The Vrouw Vennepolder near Oud Ade has been transformed into the Polderlab. A great opportunity for students to experience how scientific knowledge can be applied in practice. ‘There’s no better way to learn how to do research, than by doing it.'
On Thursday 9 September, the mayor of Leiden officially launched a unique ten-year research project in the polder near Oud Ade.
From 9 September onwards, Leiden scientists, citizens and farmers will jointly investigate how to sustainably manage peat meadowland. In ten years' time, they hope to have learned how to enhance biodiversity and simultaneously reduce nitrogen and CO2 emissions.
